Call for Workshops

Dear accessibility enthusiast,

we would like to invite you to submit a proposal for a workshop for the Accessibility Club Summit 2024 from 8 to 9 June 2024 in Amsterdam. Before submitting a proposal, please read the following information carefully. By submitting your proposal, you agree to the general conditions described.

Information on the Call for Workshops

  • Date and Location: The workshop day of the Accessibility Club Summit 2024 will take place on 9 June 2024 at various locations in Amsterdam. Workshop providers must be physically present for their workshop; remote workshops are not possible.
  • Travel and Accommodation: The Accessibility Club Summit is a community-centred event and is organised non-commercially. Unfortunately, we are unable to cover travel or accommodation costs. However, accepted workshop providers will receive complimentary event tickets for the Barcamp day on June 8.
  • Submission Deadline: Workshop proposals can be submitted until 31 May 2024 and will be reviewed by a voluntary community panel with the aim of offering a diverse and high-quality workshop programme that reflects current best practices in digital accessibility. Only as many workshops can be accepted as there is reliable space available.
  • Call for Diversity: We particularly encourage newcomers, people with disabilities, and members of marginalized groups to submit proposals.
  • Selection and Confirmation: The workshop jury will deal with a proposal as soon as it is received and either accept it, reject it or contact you to clarify any queries. Please make sure that you regularly check the e-mail address provided. Long delays in responding can lead to the exclusion of a proposal.
  • Publication: Accepted proposals will be immediately published on our website.

Information about your workshop

  • Workshop Language & Length: Your workshop should be in English and last either 3 hours (half-day workshop) or 6 hours (full-day workshop) plus breaks. Reasons for unavoidable deviations should be communicated to the jury in the comments field.
  • Recordings & documentation: We will try to attend all workshops at least briefly and document them photographically or otherwise. We plan to publish extracts of the collected material on our website. By submitting your workshop, you agree to this use.
  • Content Guidelines: Your workshop should focus on one of the many areas of accessibility, including conception, design, development, testing, education, social aspects, and more. Workshops intended solely for commercial promotion are not welcome, nor are workshops that do not follow generally recommended digital accessibility best practices. Ensure that your content offers added value to participants and is freely accessible wherever possible. The jury reserves the right to exclude promotional workshops and other questionable topics.
  • Audience Consideration: Your topic can be aimed at experts and provide detailed knowledge, as well as offering a first introduction for beginners. The jury will pay attention to a possible diverse composition of topics.
  • Workshop Documents: If you use presentation materials such as slides, we would appreciate it if you could provide them afterwards in an accessibile format for publication on our website.
  • Code of Conduct: As a workshop provider, you are bound by our Code of Conduct. Please ensure that you have read it carefully and comply with it in both your workshop description and delivery.
